A la Familia --Report...
Jan. 29th, 2011 11:02 amSo, following up from my post from last night. It was so good to see my cousin J last night. We met at her hotel near Chinatown SF. She was staying at this really cute chic and kitschy place called the Triton (a Kimption Hotel) which was right near the gate into Chinatown, very fun. All cool couches and interesting wall paper and there was a very well trained hotel dog in the lobby. They let the staff member bring his dog to work! Very cool.
We went to a spanish restaurant near there called B44 and their specialty was paella...big iron pans of paella --- so good that I ate my whole portion and I never finish meals now but this was that good. We started out with an order of mussels. We did the whole deal and had cava cake for dessert with some really nice decaf coffee.
You know how with some people, the years melt away and it is like no time has passed? Well it was like that with J. We could talk and talk and it was totally comfortable. We talked about our lives, the family and her stuff. Really give and take, both of us asking questions and all that. I totally forgot to take a picture but that is ok. We even have a plot going forward for some kind of family reunion and all that for some time coming up. Probably an East Coast thing but she will be fun to plan that with. After eating, we did a little shopping in Chinatown before they all the shops closed and that was fun. She got some gifts and I got my Loki cat for prosperity. :)
So yays! Good time and I really am so glad that we got together!
Happy Chinese New Year to one and all!
