Vacation report 1: Hawaiian House--Wailea
Oct. 9th, 2010 08:38 amSo here is my first report on my Hawaiian get away. I have a lot of pictures and am sifting through those but I wanted to first post in about the place that we stayed at. We rented a private house in the Hakalau area of North Hilo (12 miles north of downtown Hilo) and had a great eastward view of the ocean. I woke up every morning at sunrise to see what the colors and the view were doing.
The house was set up like a compound with the living quarters in one area and then the kitchens separate as a free standing house. Strange but it sort of worked well that way. There were three units on the property and we had one of them but the others were only occupied for a few days during our stay...most of the time we had the whole place to ourselves. That was really nice. Full laundry facilities and we cooked a lot of meals and went to local supermarkets and the farmer's market. I lost about 4 pounds on my trip due to all the activity and healthy eating. Go me.
Today's pics are of the house and complex there. More to follow as I resize the photos. Thanks for looking...our house was called Wailea (no meaning there just a place name) and the others had different names -- one other was Hapuna (cannot remember the other one). We also had a swimming pool and jacuzzi in the bathroom.
A great place. We found it on www.vrbo.com should anyone be looking for a house rental. A great site that does rentals all over the world. Highly recommend that one.
