Oct. 18th, 2009 12:51 pmHere is a heavenly body, oh la la. I just love fantasy pics and this guy could sure be my fantasy. Woot. I found this one in my "research" today and thought I would share it with you all. I love the surreal quality of the picture as well as the fantasy elements. He is also just amazingly beautiful and this works as an angel pic for me. See what you think.

I have been meaning to do an update for a few days and so I will. Mainly work things but that is all good.
My high school intern program is off the ground and I have lift off. I have interviewed and placed 4 students. I set up the process so that they have to email in a letter of intent and then come to see me for a quick interview. It is a self selecting process. If they can get it together, they get into the program. It works really well and encourages them to follow through and stay with it. I will now work on teaching them things like--punctuality and responsibility. I am the central coordinator for this and they have site supervisors who will work directly for them. I am really jazzed about how it all works out and I want to make this very real for them...do a semester end party and give them certificates of completion and all that. What it also works out to is 20 labor hours of work for our division a week, 80 a month and that is worth in real dollars about 1200.00. If I annualize that it is 12K in labor costs. That is actually something to make note of. I am very proud of this and think I am contributing something to our bottom line. It also is not replacing anyone but allows us to get to projects we would not be able to. These are things we have wanted to do but could not do before. Really great.
Other things I am doing is researching an event in Los Angeles, CA, supervising our work study student, planning two staff morale events (Halloween Pizza Party and Winter Holiday Party). We are also trying to make our operations more efficient so that we can cover better with less staff. I really do like work so that helps.
Other things...I went out for a fabulous dinner last night at Barclay's in Oakland. I had the squash ravioli with seafood (muscles and shrimp) in a cream sauce. It was big so I have some left overs for tonight's dinner. I got up early and went to the farmer's market in Mont*** District. I kept to my 20.00 budget and even had money left over for a yummy pastry there. Yum. I got cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, an asian pair, apple and some carrots, along with a fresh baked single quiche that I will have for lunch one day. I do find that the market produce tastes so much better.
I finished a story for the Mirkwood Awards run by
chaotic_binky. It is a short version of a longer story that I am working on. I am very excited about this and I have an idea for another First Age Tale so I have to get that started too. I feel better when I am writing.
I have had a rather persistent eye infection but I think the antibiotic drops are clearing that up and it is doing better.
So that is me and this was an update! Hurrah!
