So it is still going on but I thought I would post my first analysis of the Oscars, the "you heard it here first" thing. Ya.
So some of those dresses and outfits go in the category of "what were you thinking"? Mickey Rourke is to be expected. He is, shall we say, eccentric and odd and he is mourning the loss of his beloved pet. I actually think he was well received and they were loving him there. I need to see that movie. I am really interested in The Wrestler.
I have some loves and I have some hates as far as the dresses go. I think I will focus on the positives here...no sense in dissing people on the blog here.
Red Carpet:My two favorite dresses were---Ann Hathaway and Taraji Henson. Both showed clean lines and a nice fall of the dress. Ann Hathaway positively sparkled her way into the hall and that is what it is all about...the glitter.
( Pic of my faves... )The Show Itself:Hugh Jackman's opener---a total win. Who knew he could sing and dance like that. He just was hamming it up and having a great time. I don't think he wrote that but he sure looked like he was having a ball. Go him! He looks great and boy can he hold up that tux with style. He delivered his lines great and I was a bit miffed that he did not get more air time. I would have liked to see him more.
MORE HUGH!!!!I loved the Pineapple Express dudes doing their thing. I saw that movie and it was hilarious. Those guys are funny together. Ben Stiller? What? Stop it. That was so not funny. I like Ben Stiller too but NO.
Kate Winslet is a class act--am watching her speech now. She is lovely and one of my favorite people in film today. This year she seemed over-exposed and in a few too many films but she is always good. That was a tough category.
This show always seems long.
I love the set that they put together for this one. The shimmery curtain was cool. It was a nice effect with the lighting.
I know that Slumdog Millionaire is taking a lot of the awards and I am happy about that. I just loved that movie and I thought it was fantastic....from the story to the music to the visual. An all around great movie and that is what this is about.
As predicted--Slumdog won and Sean Penn for best actor. I am personally happy about those. Feel free to comment with your opinions. I think just to be nominated is significant recognition and it really does mean a lot but I am very content with the outcome there.
And now on to Babwa Wawa... *he he*
