phyncke: (Jewish Star of David)
It is both the Sabbath night and the 4th night of Hanukkah. I just lit the candles here and I am really glad it is the weekend. So busy at work and I do have a busy weekend planned. It is nice to come home to a little bit of ritual.

I did not do all the prayers you are supposed to do but here is the one for the Hanukkah candles:

Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu l'hadlik neir (shel) chanukah.

You say that while lighting the menorah. There is a series of blessings but I do not say them all. They are all here on Wiki for your reference.

Plus lots more Hanukkah stuff.

$th crazy night... )

Cultural Planz for the weekend

Tonight: Handel's Messiah. I am going to North Berkeley/Kensington to here my friend M*** play in Handel's Messiah. He is a violinist and has been rehearsing like a nut for a while now. This is a concert series in the area for some group. Should be nice.

Tomorrow: The Color Purple (Alice Walker) and this is a musical at the Orpheum Theater in SF. We are going to a matinee (me and the girlz from work. We will BART over and do the show and then come back here for our habitual Zachary's Pizza in Rockridge. Tres fun. **Note this was a book and then a movie first. Read the book and seen the movie. Yah**

Sunday I ain't doing nothing. Maybe a Bunday post. :P Cannot miss that.
