Late night...situation resolves
Dec. 6th, 2007 10:31 pmSo I was out earlier, even though it was raining and miserable on the road. I went to friends' house earlier and we lit the Hanukkah candles there, saying the blessing. We had the kid light the candles and did the whole thing together. It was very fun not to do it all by myself. I did not get a pic of their menorah so I redid it here cuz I am a nut like that and wanted to have tonight's picture for the blog here. :P
( Third crazy night... )
We spent some time in ***clair Village in Oakland tonight. Got Cybelles Pizza and had pepperoni and sausage on that. Very NOT kosher but oh so good. He he he. We had to wait forever for it as they forgot we were upstairs waiting for it and our pizza was sitting there on top of the oven in the kitchen. Doh. I finally went down to check after about 40 minutes of waiting and there it was. Uhh. I wanted to ask for it free...but did not. Next time I will.
We got soaked walking around. It was Crimmas time in the village. All the business were open late and giving out free stuff. I got candy canes. Weee.
Phyncke Family Resolution
For those of you who have been following the cultural dispute in my family...ie. should we educate my niece as to her Jewish heritage. Well, it seems as though my talk had some effect. I was pleased and very surprised to hear from my mom tonight. Cell phone convo while driving.
Me: Hello?
Mom: Your brother said you talked to him about **** and being Jewish last night.
**Notice how she does not say hello. That is SOOOO my mother**
Me: It did not exactly go very well.
Mom: Well tonight he asked to light the menorah here with **** so you did something.
Me: *crashes car due to total surprise*
Oops...no. I did not. But I almost dropped the phone there! I am amazed. I really did not expect that but D*** (my bro) told my Mom that he was going to include Judaism and our family background with that as part of what he teaches her about as she grows up. CHA. I have to say I am really happy and it just thrills me. This will not change anything about her religion but it will pass on the knowledge of our history to her. And THAT is what I was talking about.
*snoopy dance*
So I am pooched and heading to beddy bye.
Look at the menorah I made.
