Oh the pain....
Jul. 5th, 2006 03:49 pmSo it started yesterday. The pain...oh the pain. In one of my back left molars. Well I thought it was only one, well it turns out it is two, on the same side. Went to the emergency dentist. With my car out of commission, I cannot get to my regular dude. My friend here at work swears by her person who is right up the street and they could take me this afternoon. So I went. Booked it up the street at a fast clip.
Oh gods....one of the teeth needs to be root canaled. It has a massive filling, one of those old kinds and it is leaking. You can see it right on the x-ray. I was morbidly fascinated by the whole thing after they stretched my mouth every which way taking the pictures. You can see it. It is pretty cool. Dentists have all this cool technology now and you can see the x-ray right on a laptop while you sit in the chair. I saw just what they were talking about too. One molar had this white fuzzy stuff around where the filling was....which means it is seeping.
The other tooth looks fine even though it really hurts too. She said I am most likely grinding my teeth and aggravating the nerve endings on that one. That makes total sense. I had to wear a mouth guard for 12 months to correct my bite and stop that bad habit. She recommends that I start wearing it again. Just at night which is when I am probably doing the damage.
This dentist is good and referred me to the endo-endo-endo-WHATEVAH...so I can get the root canal done. Ain't life grand?
Frig. Thank god for health coverage.
