Road trip.....kinda fun!
Sep. 10th, 2005 11:24 pmWent down to Half Moon Bay, CA. All the details are here yet hidden for those who want to read all the gory bits. No murders took place or anything and we did not get arrested. I just lost a bunch of you didn't I?
Half Moon Bay, CA.
So my friends and I tried it again with better success. We planned the trip last week and executed it today, which was Saturday. We got on the road at a reasonable hour and were down in Half Moon Bay in enough time to enjoy all the shops and art galleries that were the main point of going to this small sea side town. Everything was OPEN! Oh frabjous day! Kalooh kalay! We found a fabulous seafood grill right near the water to eat at which served an excellent chowder. Now, I am partial to a good chowder. All of us enjoyed the meal, even Nicholas, the 10 year old also along with us, found something good to eat and he hates fish. He got mini corndogs and he assured me that they were "delicious."
I cannot say this trip went off without a hitch. There was a bit of fighting amongst the couple I was with. Insults were hurled and one of them (the male of this het pair) stomped off in a huff not to return for hours. He,in fact, did not return at all. We thought he was wandering the town streets of Half Moon Bay but hours later when we called his cell phone we found out that he had walked to the beach without us. He was fine and would wait there until we met him there. My friend and I continued to cruise the town until we felt like going to the beach to get him. We did not make him wait that long because we were ready to spend some time at the beach ourselves. We ended up at a beach I have never gone to there before and it was not the cleanest. I like to go a little further south to more remote beachers where less people are. Anyway, it was still nice and I managed to have some nice time to myself communing with the waves and the ocean while they tried to resolve their little spat. I love the beach. It was perfectly sunny out. Nice and cool and the waves were crashing with abandon. All these things combined to make my beach experience enjoyable. I got to bury a kid in sand and make castles. All of this was fun.
We made good time back to Oakland, CA and decided to get pizza and rent a movie, Vanity Fair based on the book by William Thakerey Makepeace. I read the book 20 years ago while I was backpacking through Europe at the age of 19. So I did not remember the story that well. We found it a bit slow and did not finish the movie.
So that was my day. Tomorrow I think I am going to work around here and get ready for the working week unless I can tempt
kimberly_a into going for a walk with me at some point. I will need to enjoy the sunshine at some point. The weather promises to be another sunny, yet cool day. Perrrfecto for such things.
Cheers to you all and good night.
