It has been a busy, busy day here at the Uni. Meeting this morning. Loads of work. *head swims* I get to leave early though. That is always a plus.

Thankfulness, here we go.

#8. I am grateful that I am able-bodied, that I have the use of all my limbs, my my vision and my hearing. I live in Berkeley, which is accessibility town and for that reason many people who are disabled live here. We have accessible buildings, sidewalks, stores, restaurants. We also can boast the Center for Independent Living which was the first in the country. *beams* Anyway, all this means that you see people that are not able-bodied everywhere. I see them on the street as I walk quickly to work and I never fail to feel lucky that I can walk, stride, run, jump, and skip if I so choose.

For a few years in my twenties I had a roommate who was profoundly deaf and I realized then what it is like to live without one of your senses. She handled things so amazingly well but it just makes life that much more difficult. She was a lip reader but it was tiring for her to keep that up all day. I learned sign language to make it easier for her.

So just a thing to think about. This meme is making me think of things I would not normally notice.
