How exciting to see all the new pictures and preview trailers for DOSmaug. These icons are lovely, my dear. It's great to see some new elf art generated too.
I think lots of folk are excited to see this new character Tauriel. Although there didn't seem a lot of new fanfiction from the first Hobbit film (though I was only looking on LJ) there seems to be far more excitement about this one.
The cynic in me feels that they've revived a role for Legolas and created him a Disney style feisty female elf who doesn't do as she's told, to bring back the sort of fan attention Legolas generated in LOTR. I don't know the box office figures for the Hobbit film, but if the profits were flagging that is exactly what I would do to raise the odds. Thranduil has a bigger part too, so I'm thrilled about that. Lee Pace looks amazing. So I really can't moan. Roll on December. XXX
