So I am posting this on LJ only as this pertains only to this site. The new posting screen they have implemented is really slow and gets hung up. The icon selector function does not work very well. I much prefer the drop down menu by title to the image preview. I cannot actually get the preview thing to work and it is slowwwwww here. I don't know about the rest of it as I have not tried the formatting stuff. I don't mind that they moved where things are but I really would like this to work as it is designed. I felt compelled to post about this. Once again, LJ is thinking of us.

Yep, I cannot actually select an icon. The thing turns and turns but won't let me. LJ you totally suck.

I think it sucks myself... so tempted to just say screw it. I can't get into my DW account because I forgot the password to it and they supposedly reset it but it hasn't shown up in my email addy.. Blah. LJ ain't getting no more money outta me come March. Have a good weekend hon :)
*hugs*

I saw the new update page, too, and didn't like it but there's a switch to go back to the old one. I switched back and it doesn't look like it's an issue to use the old one...

Yeah when I opend it yesterday, I was blinking at it like "Whaaaa?"

I then noticed the option at the upper part of the page "Switch to older version" and did and it looked normal again and all worked well.

I have to switch every time... I am tired of LJ.

I went back to the old one more or less straightaway. It was slow for me and I am impatient.

it is charming how all of their "Improvements" make it harder to use the site instead of easier

I'm in the minority here. The icon select has worked really well for me since they brought it in, and the new update page doesn't seem any slower than the old one, plus the tools actually do what they're meant to, which is more than used to happen. Only problem I've had is it fights me sometimes when I go back and edit a post, but that's a regular lj thing.

It's all kind of strange as I probably have the weakest internet connection of anyone commenting, so you'd think it would give me grief.

ETA: in fairness, our internet speed is slower than America so it could just be why I'm not noticing a difference in load speed.

It totally sucks. The only reason I am still here is that I have a permanent account that I paid for.

I did not realize you could switch back. I will look for that.

I find the selector tool for icons does not work at all for me. I really detest that. It is slow and cumbersome. Takes up too much memory to work. Anyways, glad you like it. LOL.

Seems to work fine for me, but only time will tell.
I'm using Chrome. Which browser do you use? Could it be that?

I normally use semagic for posting purposes...I just like it's UI and it never changes around!

But I did happen to use the livejournal website to post today and I didn't have any major issues with it.....Nothing that would be the fault of the new design.--there was some issue in converting html text to regular text which screwed up the image I was posting...but nothing a little copy and paste won't fix.

Like [livejournal.com profile] ardisia I was/am using Chrome...I don't know if that's the difference or not

But at least there is the opt-out/switch back option

I notice the others who aren't having trouble with it mention they're using Chrome, which I am too. Wonder if there's a browser issue? I've been using the new page for a while now and I've had no more trouble with slowness or hanging than I'd normally find with LJ. Not crazy about the default font, but that's a minor issue.

I will see if it was just a one time thing. I tried at different points though and could not see the icons to select them.

Maybe. I will try chrome, I guess. I do prefer mozilla.
