The Mentalist (2008 - 2011)

Summary: (from IMDB)
A well-known psychic becomes a consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation to help solve crimes and to find "Red John," the madman who killed his wife and daughter.

So - there is a marathon of this show on TNT today and I thought I would review it. This show has a strong central character in the vein of Sherlock Holmes - who solves crimes utilizing his keen powers of observation. Example - he figures out that a man in a wheelchair is not paralyzed by noticing the marks on the soles of his shoes from walking. Very neat on the details this show is. He has a bit of the tormented soul about him as he is motivated to get the killer of his family. I prefer the shows that are not Red John focused and love the stand alone ones that veer away from that story line. I really wish that story line had rapped a little faster. I tended to not watch the Red John shows and tended to watch the independent story line shows. Those are lighter and Patrick Jane is funnier there - and that is when the show is best - when Patrick is funny, witty and "on". Really good supporting cast in this show - and the team is solid. I really like watching this show as they solve the crimes they are faced with.
