Criminal Minds (2012)
Episode from 05-09-12
Profiling 101
TV Show
In general, I love the show Criminal Minds but I feel compelled to review this specific episode from this week - Profiling 101. The BAU Team speaks at a college class and present a particularly heinous case of a serial killer who operated for years, capturing women for days, starving them, removing their female organs and killing them. Not for the feint of heart this episode.
What I found especially interesting about this episode was the departure from the usual structure of the case evolution. The case was revealed through the class QA and presentation, which was also dotted with flashback sequences. It was very interesting to watch and I loved how the class squicked and squirmed through it all. The whole team is there but the real focal point is Rossi who is lead on this case and ends up having a closer relationship with the serial killer.
Really good TV, innovative and a well structured story. Ultimately it follows their pattern as the killer is caught but he retains control of key information and holds this over Rossi.
Excellent installment in this series. I always watch it but this one, well worth noting and reviewing.

Overall rating:
Interesting departure from their usual format!
Recommend:
Not for the feint of heart.
Warnings:
Disturbing subject matter.
