Yesterday was national haiku day!
Apr. 18th, 2018 09:58 amI am crushed. I missed national haiku day. I love haiku's. I used to post haiku's on Fridays. Anyways. I am sorry I missed this day as I love this form of poetry - so simple and beautiful. I will post a few haikus as I am not in the mood to write my own. Here is a link to the site for national haiku day -

Here are some examples of haiku by the famous poet Basho -
On a withered branch
A crow has alighted:
Nightfall in autumn.
Seas are wild tonight . . .
stretching over
Sado Island
Silent clouds of stars
Why so scrawny, cat?
starving for fat fish
or mice . . .
Or backyard love?
Silent the old town . . .
the scent of flowers
floating . . .
And evening bell
So simple and beautiful. I just really love these poems. Hope you will too.
