In other news...
Today is the day of my big event. I got my nails done yesterday, a mani-pedi with my regular place in Elmwood and I feel better going into it. I have my outfit planned for it. Black tailored pants and an embroidered shirt that is light weight for a hot day. Anyways. Soon it will be done and over with. I hope it goes well! If it does not, well the good thing is that it will be over either way and I do get comp time for working today.

Cheers to all of you and I hope that you are having a good weekend.

Karate Kid (2010)

Summary: (from IMDB)
Work causes a single mother to move to China with her young son; in his new home, the boy embraces kung fu, taught to him by a master.

This is a mid-movie review here as I am just enjoying this one SO much. I always loved the original with Ralph Macchio but this version of the film, set in China eclipses the original with beautiful scenery of China and Jackie Chan in the mentor role as the janitor and Kung-fu teacher. This is a moving bit of film making and I have not even gotten to the climax yet.

Jaden Smith (Will Smith's son) has such sensitivity in this role - he is vulnerable, funny and intense all at the same time.

The mean kids were really mean to him and the resolution was a challenge in a Kung Fu tournament so that will be the climax. It almost does not matter to me as the journey there was so well done. I am just loving this film. LOVE!

Edit: The tournament scenes were epic and the final - just amazing with that move, yes! I played that last move a few times here on the DVR. Great!

Credits in English and Chinese, nice touch.

But work event went great today. Lots of people there, the sponsor was pleased and the presentations went great. We had students presenting research. Really good. Yay! That one is done. Woot.

Truly beat but a good day and glad that is done!
