Not that I make bad suggestions but not all my ideas are practical. Here is the upshot.

I am on the White House listserv and Obama has this program called the Presidential Save Awards - rewarding and awarding a prize to federal employees who come up with innovative ideas that save the federal government lots of money (like lots). These are usually large scale ideas that result in large scale budgetary savings. Here is the web site for that program (you can even vote for the nominees, if you are so inclined)

So I sent in the idea at work that this same idea - the idea of rewarding and awarding for innovation and budgetary savings ideas could be applied at **** and our **** Initiative. I even proposed the name of the awards program - The Excellence Awards and described how I envisioned it in action - promoting a healthy sense of competition and a grassroots voting scheme that is very participatory. Open the process that way.

So within moments of sending in my really cool idea, I get back a reply from the head of the Initiative -- "This is a nice idea. We will really think about this. Thanks for sending in your suggestion."

Go me! I hope that this idea goes somewhere. I think it actually might work. Woot.
