Here is a Mapplethorpe...more on that later in the post. He is a master of photography and the nude form. This one is called Lowell Smith.

The reason for the choice of a Mapplethorpe today is that I had the pleasure of seeing an exhibit yesterday in San Jose of Robert Mapplethorpe's portraits. I have always been interested in both him and his work. His portraits are all so warm and interesting and well composed. As a photographer who began his work with the use of a polaroid camera and as a self-taught artist, I think he is remarkable in what he did with his work. The San Jose Museum of art displayed his portraits in three large rooms and really simply so the focus was really on the photo as opposed to elaborate framing. Really well done and it was a true showcase of this incredibly talented photographer. We were there taking my friend's kid to Fanime Con and had to wait for hours outside of the convention center there so this was an unexpected and really welcome treat...
The bad news was that I overdid it on my achilles tendon injury a bit, through the driving and the walking so that is bad. I will have to rest and renew my PT routine. This is a total drag, TOTAL DRAG. *sulk* Resting is really hard to do and walking is kind of a basic thing that you have to do. I really am hating this. /end whiney complaining
This weekend is kind of low key. We might try our hand at BBQ on Monday...chicken wings or something. I like low key and more rest is in order for me. So that is all I have.
Cheers to all and hope you are enjoying the Memorial Day weekend.
