Good afternoon,

At 9 p.m. EST tonight, President Obama will deliver his first State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress. Here’s what you can expect:

The President will clearly articulate the steps we need to take to continue to rebuild our economy and jump start private sector job creation. He’ll talk directly to you about restoring security for middle class families after a lost decade of declining household income, eroding retirement security and escalating health and tuition costs. And he’ll detail his efforts not only to better protect you and the American people at large, but also to restore America’s alliances and standing in the world.

Right after the President’s address, we’ll be open for questions on WhiteHouse.gov. So watch the President live at WhiteHouse.gov and stay tuned for a live chat immediately following with some of the President’s top policy officials.

=======================
Just an FYI to anyone who wants to watch that. I am on the White House listserv.

Cheers.

I am going to post as I think. Just to see how this goes. This is a stream of consciousness post. Pithy mean thoughts and all. :P Why not. This is my blog. Don't read it if you don't want to!

Our congress people sure are unattractive on the whole. Obama is handsome but most of these people not so much. Just putting that out there. Michelle is pretty and dresses well. I see a few red power suits on the ladies in there. That is last decade. Brown would be better to wear for this occasion....Nancy Pelosi in a bluey grey. Not bad and not red! More red on the ladies. That is kind of tacky. I like Nancy's necklace and it goes well with what she is wearing. Looking at the room, a sea of blue with dots of red in there. :P

I should try and talk about the substance of what he says, eh? I will try. I do need to look up a recipe for mahi tuna so I am trying to do that too while I watch. I am a bit distracted. I digress but you are still reading. So just go with it.

So Biden and Pelosi have to sit there right behind him and have to look interested and attentive the WHOLE time. Biden does it well and Pelosi keeps blinkie blinking. Biden nods sagely. I really like Biden. My vote was as much for him as for Obama. I like that our Vice President is capable too.

Update:
I fade in and out of attention. Here is what I am getting.
-Wall Street will pay back what they borrowed. I am really happy about that. Totally good news that this money did not go down the proverbial drain pipe and to corporate vacations.
-This time only half of them are clapping and some of those republican dudes are looking a bit, shall we say, disrespectful and pompous during the standing O's. That is not so nice.
-Budget tightening, that is good. Focus on jobs.
-I admit I was IMing and making a sandwich (gave up on the mahi) during some of the speech.

You got it here first!
