Vacation Report 07: Foodies Delight
Oct. 4th, 2009 10:48 amThis serves as a record of the gastrointestinal adventures that we had during our vacation. Really for me as a marker so that I know what we did and where we went to eat this time. I want to keep track of things so that I know where to go next time and do different things. I will share this with you all and read if you wish or skip. These are not in order by date but are by city or location.
Berkeley Eats:
Fondue Fred's: Excellent Swiss Fondue and chocolate fondue
Oscar's Burgers: great local burger place, nice thin fries and reasonable prices.
Giovanni's Italian: medium pricey but a good deal with the coupon book thing we had. Family style italian food and nice portions.
The Drunken Boat: lovely brunch place but good for coffee and food for any meal. Right around the corner from my house.
Tandor Kitchen: indian food. Very resonably priced food and also right around the corner from my house.
Pescadero Eats:
Duartes: a local fixture and landmark. Known for their abalone, crab and soups. Recommend getting the 50-50 soup (artichoke-green chile) and we had the crab melt sandwich. Pricey but good and the atmosphere was great. Counter seating is a good option as opposed to waiting for a table.
Fort Bragg Eats:
New Best Buffet: Asian all you can eat buffet. Divey but plentiful and reasonable priced. Also convenient location to hotel. A short walk through the parking lot.
Cirino's Sandwiches: amazing sandwiches from an elaborate menu while you wait. Small restaurant and only two tables but the sandwiches are terrific and very reasonably priced.
Bernillo's Pizza: owner run and operated pizza place right in central Fort Bragg. Very nice people here and they make a very fresh pizza with handmade pizza dough (as opposed to frozen). We had sausage and mushroom and it was delicious. The medium was more than enough for two and we had leftovers.
Also--we shopped and packed lunches and snacks, using my roll-away cooler. That worked really well. A full complement of beverages, granola bars...etc. Saved us money on the road..etc. I love road tripping.
So that is it for the official vacation reports. I have a movie to post for
luin77 of the penguins in the Calif Academy and that is it. Thank you for reading along.
