And so I post....
Oct. 22nd, 2008 05:50 pmI am going to post. I don't do enough updating on this journal and dammit...I have NOTHING to say so I will make shit up. Uhhh.
Work is good. I keep getting some good projects. Today was an alumni event in Philadelphia that I helped plan. Our Dean and Development Director ran that and did the roadshow. I am hoping that it went well as I remotely scouted the location and it is kind of on me for that one. The restaurant is called Fork and was very trendy and they were a dream to work with. We decided not to go with a hotel for this as those are so impersonal. Fingers crossed on this.
Other projects: Halloween Pizza Party, Staff Holiday Party in Dec, TOEFFL Presentation in November. Our office WIKIPEDIA documentation. We are putting our procedures on an internal wiki and I am the project coordinator for that. This is way fun. You can download wiki and make your very own for your business or organization. We are using it for what they call a Business Resumption tool. If a disaster hits we have our stuff web based and can get up and running presto fasto. Woot. Anyway. I like being team leader on this. And wikipedia is like right up my alley.
Other things are good. I saw a poster for a Taicho Drumming Festival in November. Now that sounds shazam and it is right at Zellerbach up the street at CAL. I so want to go. I think it is one of those things I will hit even if no one will go with me. I am just so tired of waiting for people to get it together. Cheap is cheap and then life passes you by and you have not done anything with it. I enjoy seeing cultural events and I get a discount at events.
Speaking of culture...today I saw a presentation of gamelan. It was really wonderful and when I closed my eyes, I felt like I was floating on the ethereal rhythm.
Link to sample of gamelan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldPMifPbngc
It was a free concert by the music ensemble and I am going to go to more of the lunchtime series . Perk of being a Uni employee. The gamelan music showed in the link are much heavier than what I saw today...more driving. It was much lighter music played in the concert.
That is about it for me. My CD player is wigging out. Augh. Don't know why that is. Hope you all are well and thanks for reading my rangy update. Cheers.
