Update

Old Besse

So, Besse failed the smog thing yesterday. I was mightily upset but my mechanic said some emission valve thing was damaged and needs to be replaced. It is just a matter of paying for it and getting the repair done. He did inform me that legally the seller needed to provide a car that would pass smog inspection for it to be a sellable car in "as is" condition and I had not paid one thin dime for it yet. I had negotiating room. It also has an oil leak that needs to be fixed but it can wait a few weeks.

When I got back to work, I e-mailed the friend I got the car from. We had determined the price and wrote up a contract and I wanted to deduct the cost of these two repairs from that price. It is only fair, yes? I wrote him because I am much clearer in writing sometimes than verbally. Less chance that I will muddle it all up and get confused. I could spell it all out.

Luckily he agreed to everything right away. I did not have to argue at all. He is a good friend and I have known him for 8 years. Whew. He does want me to take the car to his mechanic and see if we can get a cheaper price on the repairs. He has a good shop to go to in Alameda. I have no problem with that.

So all is well that ends well. I am delayed but it will be fine.

In other news....

The tooth still hurts. The pain comes and goes and seems to be worse at night. I do not know why that is. It really hurt last night while I was trying to RP. I slathered it with Orajel and went on with things. I go in Tuesday for the big thing and I am covered for 80% of the cost. Not bad. I hate dental work. I will load up on yogurt and cottage cheese so I can eat something that day. Ugh. I have been down this road before. My jaw is stiff and it is hard to move it. This is getting old really fast.

I am going to run errands today and go to the pool. It is bloody hot and will be uncomfortable. Time to hit the shower and get on with the day.
