Merry Christmas.....
Dec. 19th, 2005 11:58 pmWell in a few days I am off the the East Coast to visit with family. I am leaving on Thursday and will not be back until January 3rd. I am sure that I will be reading LJ but I will not be able to update from there. Not that I have done anything but post memes in a while. Things have been good with me. I am weathering the season well and work has been the usual blase thing. I need a new job but it does leave me time to play with my elves. Who am I to complain?
I am very excited about spending time with my family for the holiday. My dad had hip replacement surgery late last summer and is in his mid-70's. Getting up there in years. I will spend a lot of time with him, drinking coffee and going to movies and eating mixed nuts. His big thing is that he will ask me for help in solving his crossword puzzle books. I find this all very mundane but very comforting in a way. He is a lovely man and when my parents separated for many years, he is the one who stayed and raised me during my formative years. I owe him so much. He is my buddy.
The other big deal is that my brother, David has come home from a stint in Iraq as part of the National Guard. He had been there for 1.5 years. It was a very tense time for all of us and we worried all during that time that something would happen to him. He has a wife and daughter and it was very difficult for them to be with out him especially. He sent e-mails home every week, telling us not to worry. But of course we still did. He came back a few weeks ago and we all breathed a collective sigh of relief. My brother is home now and I am hoping that he cannot be called up again. He is 42 years old now, has a bad back and bad knees. How much of an asshole can George Bush really be? Please do not answer that question!
So this is my Christmas message. I hope you all have fun with your families and friends and get lots of good presents and eat lots of good food. Remember to tell them you love them. It is important not to forget to do that. We so often do.
Here is a picture I thought was especially beautiful. I hope it brings a smile to your face. (It is behind the cut here....)
