So my weekend was not very good. I already wrote on Saturday which was not all that fun. So here is the rest of it....it does not get that much better.

Sunday: Gold Country Debacle

Intention: To go to gold country and see fun stuff like gold mines and caverns and cute mining towns with kitschy shit and shopping and generally have a good time in the backroads of California.

What happened: We left late, got lost and fought the whole way there. We finally got to Angel Camp and everything was closed. We then drove on to Murphy and again EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED. We were able to find something to eat in a small cafe, thank Eru and that managed to calm us down. The fighting continued and we wandered the streets of this very quaint, cute town looking in the windows because EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED! We drove on to Columbia and all the mining and panning for gold area was...you guessed it CLOSED...but we walked around and looked at all the cool saloons and hotels. It was very wild, wild west like. I was fed up by this time and decided to start drinking. By this time it was about 7:00 pm and we had to head back. We fought over the radio and who was driving. There is not much we did not fight over. It was the road trip from hell. The one good thing is that we found an excellent mexican restaurant on the way back and had a lovely meal. That cheered us up some. We got home very late and were very grumpy. I stumbled home and fell into bed.

Monday: The Hike From Hell

So you would think I would have learned and left well enough alone, but nooo. I hooked up with the same friends I spent Sunday with. This time we decided to go for a short hike in Redwood National Park in the Berkeley Hills. It is usually quite beautiful and picturesque. We took their dog and off we went. We picked a new trail, feeling adventurous. This was our first mistake.

So not realizing that we would eventually have to hike back out again, we hiked steadily down hill into a very deep canyon. It was a very sunny trail for a while but this wound up into a very pleasant shaded trail. We were having a good time for a while until we hit the bottom of the canyon and had to climb our way out. It was a very steep incline and we had to go at it for 2 hours. None of us were in very good shape and even the dog got tired. We ended up bickering the whole way out and exhausting ourselves. By the time we got to the top of the canyon we were ready to die and kill each other.

When we reached the level trail we had a long way to go until we reached our car and we had to hike in the sun. Needless to say we were thoroughly exhausted and grumpy by the end and nearly collapsed in the parking lot. It was truly the hike from hell.

We did manage to put together a BBQ at the end of the day but I was so exhausted I barely tasted the food.

So that was my exciting weekend. I am back at work now and sore as all get out. Next weekend we are going to the beach in Half Moon Bay! Stay tuned for more adventures!

Thanks for reading.

heeee!look what I did. I can make it big and I can make it small. What a huge thrill. I went cd shopping this afternoon and bought Norah Jones and Ben Folds Five. I am listening to them right now and playing with the formatting codes on LJ. Trying to spice up my journal. This is a non-entry just to see if I did it right. And I DID. Yay. :)
