Setting up...
I am setting up RP journals and some graphics journals on dreamwidth - in anticipation of possibly moving things over here. What are other people doing about that. I am just curious. This redesign is surely coming, an impending fact of our online lives so I wonder what people are doing.
I don't see much life over here yet but the interface is snappy, the service is better. A kinder, gentler blog-o-sphere. And I have a permanent LJ and even with that, would consider a migration if the community were doing that.
Is it time to make a plan? I am not encouraged by this article (found posted a few places on the flist)

I got mildly peeved at the lack of consideration that we as loyal users are getting. So for lack of that, why stay? Really. I would like to know what the thought is.

The whole thing annoys me no end. *Grumbles*

I will just wait and see what's next to come.

everything is kind of falling apart.. and all at once.. *sigh*
I'm not even really sure what LJ wants to change. I'm not against new stuff, but they don't really need to mess up all the old working stuff.

lets hope we won't have to actually use it.

I really liked the way they organized the icons to choose from at the free account. I prefer thatw ay than have to remember all the pictures in my head, even if I add names to it.
I don't have a DW account and I don't see me migrating there also, but time will tell.

Will see how it goes.

As for the LJ changes - the article suggests they aim to develop a few more big coms like ONTD, which I think might be kind of ambitious (and quite honestly I don't see ONTD as 'just another lj com') The development list seems more focused on that than on ordinary users. The only thing that's affected my account lately is the new way of selecting icons, which I know some on my flist hate and have blocked but personally I love it! (such a strange feeling, they finally made a change I like)

I check in on DW every so often, but there are very few posts that aren't cross posted - I think LJ'd have to royally tick people off before there was any kind of migration, which is a pity as I'm fond of DW, but there you go - people like the familiar.

I would have to see the redesign in implementation to know.

I've not seen much change here at LJ... but maybe it's because of paid account I have. I have not mirrored OEAM there either since I seriously don't want to deal with that headache.

Anyways. Things worth considering.

I am not sure what I will do but I am raising the issue. At a certain point they might make the site unworkable for their users. For example -- my RP had to move because of the changes --- and that is migrating to DW. So that might be happening more and more with these changes.

I think they plan on generating new accounts and not worrying about the old users. That is silly really.
