Oscars are upon us!

18 minutes away from the red carpet goodness. Here we are for Oscars 2011. The crudites have been cut, the guacamole purchased, we got chips. I am ready eddy for the awards ceremony today. I have a friend coming over and we will be donning tiaras for this year's Oscars Show 2011. Much silliness to ensue.

The pre-show starts at 2pm here in PST land and then the ceremony itself starts at 5:30 pm PST. (other time zones noted here: 8:30 EST - 7:30 CEN- 6:30 MNT - USA). I suggest checking a time zone site for international time zones.

My favorite for Best Picture is The King's Speech. I have not seen nor do I wish to see The Black Swan. I do like Natalie Portman but that movie did not appeal to me as a psycho drama-thriller thing and ballet is not an interest of mine. I do look forward to seeing her in Thor which is coming out later this year. So yays. See this post for the list of those nominated.

Anyways. I am looking forward to the glitz and glam and hope the show delivers some entertainment and laughs. Yays!

I love ballet. I took ballet for years. My cousin qualified to teach. My daughter also had seven years training. Ballerinas dancing Swan Lake wear their hair up. Not loose and swirly. That is all I have to say about the Black Swan.

The show starts at 3.30 am our time, the highlights get broadcast tomorrow night, because of that it's not really a huge deal --- just get the results on breakfast tv. Works fine for me, I'm not into plastic glitz, but it makes it pretty inaccessible to people who might be more interested.

I think I have an aversion to that movie because I absolutely hated ballet. I had one of my more traumatic experiences in a ballet class and I was more sports oriented. I think I was forced to do a split or something. Something totally horrible actually. Might be why I have no desire to see that one.

Every time you use that icon, I laugh. I love that icon. :)
