Better day today...

Things seem a bit better today. I was super productive and adopted a no stick attitude. I have decided to be impervious to things that happen and work more on getting out of my current position. This shift in thought put me in a better frame of mind. I also was super productive and I got a lot of things done on bitchetta's event. I am professional and would never let her thing effect how I perform on a project. That is how I roll.

Anyhoo. Glad, I am that it is Friday.

So my old PC has decided to crap out on me. I think it is finally dying. I do have another computer (a mac) but the PC was my graphics making machine so not sure what I am going to do about making graphics right now. I cannot decide if I should replace the PC or not. What do people with macs do about making graphics? Are there programs out there for the mac? Just checking.

So that is about it from this end. Thanks to everyone for the supportive comments on my last post. Really appreciate it.

Technical frustrations and a thank you!

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] elflover59 for the beautiful holiday card. That got here today.

I spent hours this afternoon trying to set up Parallels 7 on my new Mac Pro. This software will allow me to set up a windows environment on that machine. I am doing this so I don't have to purchase expensive software for it and so I can run all my graphics designing programs. Anyways...I got stumped on a password and could not get Windows to transfer to the new machine. Buggaboo! I have no idea what that password is or how to change it to one that I do know. I have a call in to my friend who knows such things and will see how I do tomorrow. This gave me a major headache. Argh.

Hope all is well with you. Things are shaping up for new years and the mellow plan. I have an afternoon party here at my house and an evening plan. Unusual for me as I usually don't have anything to do that night and tend to be more contemplative. I have plans on New Years to go out for a buffet lunch too. Yummeh.

I have started reading the original Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes stories and those are really good. Those were a recent (and reasonable) purchase at the bookstore.

Hope all is well with you and your day was less frustrating than mine. :)

Cheers and to all a good night!

Back this week with...

A really nice sample from We Love Guys who got this from Fantastics Magazine. The universe aligns to give us this shot. Two of my faves. Woo.

This guy's name is Tegan. I found that interesting. *pause*

*Not safe for work*

Tegan's tush... )

What is going on in my world...

I hate losing an hour of sleep. This changing the clocks thing. I know, I know. More light but it really hurts to lose that hour of sleep. *whines* I did sleep later than usual to make up for it. So that is good.

Yesterday's movie turned into a really great experience. We switched up and decided instead of seeing Coraline, to see The Watchmen. Oh la la. It was long but it did not feel long. I was riveted the whole way through. It was goth, dark and really great. I had not read the graphic novel but I really loved these characters and their anti-hero thing going on. I give this one an unequivocal GREAT in the phyncke review scheme. See it. I feel some icons coming on. :)

I should do a work update but I don't feel like it. I am working hard, I will just say that. No time to mess around. I will do a work update soon. The major news on my reclass is that I am working on my job descrip and getting that done to see what level I will be at. I started it and will work on that some here. My sister in law is really good with power language so I will have her take a look at it too. She can jazz it up. Yayus. Want to slam dunk on this one.

On the car...I think I can get to the DMV on Thurs to get new tags. *mutters obscenities* He he he. That will be fixed soon.

I have to replace my external hard drive so I have been dealing with some data issues. It was damaged by the Dish TV installer when he came in here. He knocked it off the table and it became un-readable in Windows. I can salvage my info in Knoppix and will get a new one paid for by the installer company so that is the upshot good news. *nod* I am happy that I can save my image collection. Would not want to lose that.

Uhhh. So I guess that is an update of sorts. Good and not so good.

Cheers and happy Sunday. I contemplate a meal at iHOP. Hmm. Or make pancakes here? Hmm.

Fighting the good fight....

I have a nasty bit of viral thing on my computer so I won't be around much and graphics will have to wait for now. I am trying to get rid of this thing. If all things fail I will take oold Bessie here into the shop. The trojan I got here is called virtumonde and it appears to be a common yet determined little bugger. I have been studying it and looking it up. Found some things that I am going after it with but really...who writes this stuff...some sick bastards who want to infect your computer? If I ever meet someone who wrote one of these I will slap them silly.

So I will be scarce. You might find me commenting from work now and then and I will do my best to get my open offers done but right now no guarantees. They will get done eventually.

See you around when I have my computer fixed.

So...a New Year's Bunday Retrospective...

I went through and I picked my faves for you here as a year end special for us all. I figured that was fun and I am late. Well I am making Monday Bunday for this time. It rhymes too. I have the power!

Not dial up friendly but so very worth it. Happy new year all...enjoy!

The 2007 Bunday Review... )

In other news. I swapped out my hard drive and my computer is really fast now. Better, faster. Yays. BUT I forgot to archive my Photoshop/Image Ready...argh. Well I did archive something but it is not a working version of PS. Why did I do that? You got me. I will see what I can do about this. I have offers open in my graphics things and they are more popular than I planned on. So we will see what I have to do about that. I may have to post out on those.

Low key new year's plan. Setting up programs. Cooking in. Music...maybe a movie and I got some Emmet's to enjoy. That sounds nice to me.

Scuse me while I go collapse. I will be loading software tomorrow. Too tired to see straight.

Cha.

Not so bad....

I have salvaged just about everything I wanted to off of the computer. I am able to work in bits on Windows on the old drive. I ordered the new drive from Tiger Direct and got myself 1 GIG of RAM to go with it! *sings* Merry Christmas to me! I so deserve that. I want a better, faster machine. I cannot afford a new machine right now so putting this one together for 150.00 is a good idea. I will do the new machine next year.

All is well and I managed to post some graphics I had to get to people. I have one pending blinkie offer that I really want to get done. I might be able to do that in stages here. I will try that. *obsesses*

Anyways. It is not so bad. I will survive. *has Gloria Gaynor moment*

I am back at work and that is totally MOAN-worthy. Waking up was sooo difficult.

Posting a little early...

I bring you previously viewed material.

La la la... )

My computer has crashed and burned so I am out of commission. I have to buy a new hard drive tomorrow and reset things up here. It will set me back some. So ... this is it for a little bit. Right now I am running on the miracle of Knoppix a freeware OS that allows you to run when your computer has died. If you do not have this get it. K-N-O-P-P-I-X. I really mean it. This is a life saver. You make a DVD, you keep it and when you need it you boot up on this thing and you save things. You can also get on the internet, on chat and do just about anything with it.

It rocks.

I don't think I will lose much but this is a major hassle. I spent a day of my life and someone's time too, trying to save this computer. I thought I had it but nope...no enchilada. I think this thing is about to go belly up.

So I will be recovering my stuff for a while. Good thing everything is on an external hard drive. I learned that lesson last time.

Night night and have a good Sunday.

I feel good....

I donated my old iMac to a classroom teacher and she is using it for her in class computer. I was a school teacher for a few years so I know how hard it is to be without one in the classroom. Well they have put it in there and they are using it. This is the letter I got today. It made me feel really good about what I did. Hurrah.

Jane:

I just wanted to give you an update. M*** called me yesterday and told me that when she turned on your iMac, it made some kind of noise that her classroom computer never made. When it fired up, all the kids were clapping and cheering!

You've made a tremendous difference in one 6th. grade class. Your iMac is better than anything the school has for the teachers!

Thank you so much for all your help and your very generous donation!

L****

Donating to schools and educators is a very worthwhile thing to do.

I would have kissed the guy....

...if he had not looked so horrified. He he he.

So it looked bleak at first. No lights flashy and we blew out his USB port trying to read the data. But then after much fiddling and futzing we figured out that it was the connector in the casing thingie and that the data was all there and in tact. No problem with the drive.

*gives you all a BIG virtual hug*

I am a happy camper! And the best thing of all is that I did not pay one red cent for the repair. Got a new thing and a new cable. All FREE. I love my local computer dudes.

Wahoo.
Yahoo.
Kalooh.
Kalay.

*chortles in her joy*
*trumpets sound*
*the ants go marching*

And I will get my ass home and back that puppy up right after work tonight. No joke.

Fuck....

Data nightmares Batman! My external harddrive wigged out and now it is unreadable. All my stuff is on there as I use it for storage of all data files. All my chats, all my piccies, all my ICONS!

*wails long and loud*

I am going to the computer dudes to see if I can fix it or salvage the data.

Pray for me. I will be one very unhappy camper if I lose all of that.

Captain's Log: Supplemental

UPDATE!!!

Houston....we have a solution.

I spent some time on the phone with Gateway this morning. They were very nice and very helpful. The computer is in fact in warranty so I am covered. Blessed be. They are going to send a new hard drive and I will get it within two days. They think I should be able to install it myself. *snort* I will have my geek friend help me with it.

In the meantime I am going to try and recover more files off of my old hard drive. I will have to reload the software from a recovery disc that I have and all that.

All is not lost but I am losing data. Music files and photographs. Oh well. Luckily I have all those photos at work and can put them on a disc. So those are recoverable.

I will be running on KNOPPIX for a while...so if I am slow, that is why.

Kill my hard drive, kill my hard drive....

Computer nightmares....

My computer went boom last night. I was happily on-line chatting last night when all of a sudden it rebooted and I got the dread message "disc read error" and could not get it to boot up windows again. I could hear the drive chug-chugging and trying to read things. It is just such a horrible thing. So I call my own personal computer geek, Michael. I thought, "He will fix it, he knows everything." Well he cannot fix it. He says it is toast but he can give me this nifty program called KNOPPIX that I can run on my computer so that I can be business as usual while I try and get things fixed up here. I can browse, chat and all that jazz. I just have to save things onto those little external drives for now. I spent hours last night saving files with him at his house. The drive kept failing as we tried to get things off. I got the most important things off. My writing and my created works. So that is good.

What a freaking nightmare.

I have to call Gateway today and see how to get this handled. It is within warranty so they better fix this pronto. I kept my old computer in case this very thing happened. I guess I will be hooking up my macintosh while I send this one out for repair.

I apologize to anyone I was chatting with when the computer went. I blipped out in a hurry....

AUGHHHHHH!!!
