Out with the old and in with 2012!

I spent today cleaning out things here. My annual purge - papers and shredding and stuff. I like to get that modicum of control over my physical space for the yearly transition. I organize and file and weed out my papers. I still have more to do but things are generally manageable.

I also took down my Christmas decorations to ward off that New Year's depression. I find holiday decorations on January 1 to cause melancholy. For me, I need to move right along into the year so I have put all my Christmas stuff away. I do still have all my holiday cards received here though. I am really enjoying those.

Tomorrow, I have changed up my plan a little bit and this is the New Year's line up - we have a house party during the day from 2-7pm and then I am staying in for New Year's Eve. I don't really feel like being out when other people are drinking and there are police out there randomly stopping people. I am pretty much a homebody for New Year's. Then on New Year's Day - I am going to brunch buffet with friends and hanging out.

All in all, I have had a good year, and upon reflection, I have achieved a lot professionally. I don't really set resolutions personally as that leads to a feeling of failure when I don't meet those expectations. I will set out some goals in a personal post, I think and see where that takes me.

So here is a thought for the new year, a mantra or words to live by, from my box of Yogi tea things:

Be proud of who you are...

I really like that and it is good to remember. So have a safe and Happy New year, a time to reflect, a time to renew...at the turning of the year.

we are taking down everything today too. I feel the same way you do with the decorations.

I so agree with that quote you got from the Yogi box :)

Happy New Year my friend, see you in 2012 :D
*hugs*

I know! I always get depressed if I have decorations up on New Years. Don't know why that is. I love the yogi tea's. Little pearls of wisdom in those.

Happy new year, lovey. Better times ahead! :)

Yep there will be better times ahead in 2012 :) I'm going to make sure of that!

Yeah, a couple years ago I left the docortations up and I ended up into a depression for a couple months, I was like WTH? *shrugs* so I made myself promise I'd take them down a couple days before New Year's just to see if that would help and sure enough it did, I don't know why that is either but hey if it works keep doing it right? :)

I love Yogi tea too! It's too bad they don't have much to choose from in the area (both either in Boston or near my mom's!)

I am looking forward to the new year. Yeppers. I have to take down the decorations right after the holiday so that is how I do it.

I bet you can get that tea online...maybe check that out. They have some really good ones. I like the echinacea one quite a bit. :)

sweet!! :) thank you so much for the link! I'll check this out more, actually I think this site's cheaper than the stores, at least where my mom is, the tea there seems to be going up in price she says :(

Thanks again the link!

I like that! And, I really admire your annual purge--I'm never that organized. Goals are a good idea; I never like making resolutions, either and for similiar reasons. I hope 2012 rocks! :-)

I hope so too! I am looking forward to the change in the year. I do like transitions and all that.

Happy New Year to you! :)
