Out with the old and in with 2012!
I spent today cleaning out things here. My annual purge - papers and shredding and stuff. I like to get that modicum of control over my physical space for the yearly transition. I organize and file and weed out my papers. I still have more to do but things are generally manageable.
I also took down my Christmas decorations to ward off that New Year's depression. I find holiday decorations on January 1 to cause melancholy. For me, I need to move right along into the year so I have put all my Christmas stuff away. I do still have all my holiday cards received here though. I am really enjoying those.
Tomorrow, I have changed up my plan a little bit and this is the New Year's line up - we have a house party during the day from 2-7pm and then I am staying in for New Year's Eve. I don't really feel like being out when other people are drinking and there are police out there randomly stopping people. I am pretty much a homebody for New Year's. Then on New Year's Day - I am going to brunch buffet with friends and hanging out.
All in all, I have had a good year, and upon reflection, I have achieved a lot professionally. I don't really set resolutions personally as that leads to a feeling of failure when I don't meet those expectations. I will set out some goals in a personal post, I think and see where that takes me.
So here is a thought for the new year, a mantra or words to live by, from my box of Yogi tea things:
Be proud of who you are...
I really like that and it is good to remember. So have a safe and Happy New year, a time to reflect, a time to renew...at the turning of the year.

Yeah, a couple years ago I left the docortations up and I ended up into a depression for a couple months, I was like WTH? *shrugs* so I made myself promise I'd take them down a couple days before New Year's just to see if that would help and sure enough it did, I don't know why that is either but hey if it works keep doing it right? :)
I love Yogi tea too! It's too bad they don't have much to choose from in the area (both either in Boston or near my mom's!)

I bet you can get that tea online...maybe check that out. They have some really good ones. I like the echinacea one quite a bit. :)
