So...

News crews have been here all day as they inevitably are here at Cal when something happens in academia. We got the Chancellor's statement via email this morning. Sympathies were sent to VT. Mourning commenced.

I think the media have been conducting interviews on the campus. I would imagine they would do that. To see the student response here. What our police think of what happened...what will our Uni do in the face of this tragedy.

I do not think campuses should lock down. People have to go to classes, to lunch, to events...

There is nothing you can do if a lunatic wants to do something like that. Violence will always find a way.

I cannot see metal detectors and armed guards at every entrance to this campus. That is patently ridiculous.

I honestly do not know what to do about this kind of thing? Pray?

I am not really into that.

I am drinking this morning's coffee, how into that could I be?
